“If I could give a newly-engaged person any advice, it would be to reflect on who you are as a couple and think ‘what would be the most gratifying wedding for us?’ For us it was an Elopement in Glencoe.”
Ah geezo man, where do we even start with this epic elopement in Glencoe? Lindsay + Adam met almost as soon as she hit Edinburgh to study at University. It really was a case of love at first sight for these two, and despite the mammoth 3,000 mile distance once she graduated they knew they had to make it work. Queue 5 years of long skype dates with movies, calls, messages, using whatever money they had to travel to each other, meeting up in a new countries and re-creating a ‘foot-pop’ photograph…this pair are so deeply, wonderfully in love and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph + film their adventure.
Planning their elopement in Glencoe within 3 months was no mean feat. They chose the excellent Claire the Humanist for their ceremony (she’s one of our faves!), with Rich Gordon Piper playing the most heart-breaking + romantic melody on his Scottish smallpipes throughout the ceremony.
These two are so at peace when they are together, and an absolute dream to photograph. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for you both – we can’t wait to come to your evening wedding party as guests later this year :) <3
Now, watch this film and tell us you can’t feel the joy…oh, and wait until the very end for our of our favourite soundbites ;)
“One of my (Lindsay) most vivid memories from the day is when our parents entrusted us to the other. After five years of long-distance, we both recognised the immense trust that our parents had placed not only in their child’s partner, but in the other family to care for them during holidays and summer months. Adam’s parents sacrificed multiple Christmases with him so that we could be together, and my family missed me on summer holidays and get-togethers. We wanted to recognise and honour their role in our life and, for us, entrustment was the way to do that. The moment that Claire asked Adam’s parents (John and Beth) “Do you entrust Adam to the care and love of Lindsay?” and I heard their replies, this was the moment when I felt myself woven into the fabric of their family. The photograph of my parents (Amy and Dave) with their hands on my shoulders as they entrusted me to Adam is so symbolic of the relationship that I have with mom and Dad – the closeness, the support, the overwhelming love.” “One of Adam’s favourite memories occurred right after our first kiss. Claire said the magic words, and we leaned towards each other, we heard our families began to shout. Thinking he had done something wrong, Adam turned to see a small child in a bright red jacket and wellies, a huge grin on his face, bounding across the glen to shove a bouquet of ragweed towards Lindsay. Our hands still fasted, we managed to accept the flowers and then, still tied together, hiked back to our families. This was such a meaningful moment because it gave us a much-needed break of laughter and was such a portrait of life; sometimes the unexpected brings you the most joy.” “I (Lindsay) love this photo because it captured the wildness of the day – the empty road, the muddy dress, the untameable rain. For me, it’s representative of our journey to partnership, too. We’ve always been in motion. The way that Adam is looking back at me warms my heart, and I am so grateful that Jo + Liam caught this moment”
