We’ve seen a lot of chat recently about micro weddings in Glasgow and further afield, which we’ve always just called ‘wee weddings’…I mean, we are Scottish after all, any chance to use the word ‘wee’ is a winner :D If you are at the beginning of your wedding planning journey but you’re not sure what a micro wedding is – think of it somewhere between an elopement (just the two of you) and a bigger wedding. Not loads of guests, but not sans-guest either ;D
Why might a wee wedding be for you?
- The idea of having to ‘people’ all day feels overwhelming
- Having a small, personal ceremony and then dinner with your nearest and dearest before heading home for the night sounds just your cup of tea
- Keeping it small so that you get a chance to properly chat with everyone
- You want to keep your costs down a bit and be able to spend extra on the things that matter to you
- You quite like the idea of splitting your day; a small ceremony with just a few folk, followed by a party later on (hello to getting to wear your wedding outfit twice!)
What challenges can you face with a micro wedding?
- You have to be ruthless with your guest list, and be aware that you might upset people… (but also, stuck to your guns, it’s YOUR day!)
- Finding the right venue is important, you don’t want to pick somewhere too big and end up feeling like you’re rattling round it! Which leads us nicely onto…
