We are so excited to share Belinda & Florian’s Tyrol destination wedding! Asked if we could fly to Austria to photograph a wedding on a llama sanctuary, we first checked the date. Nope, it wasn’t an April fools. Tell you what it was though? A relaxed yet epic adventure with two of the loveliest souls and their awesome families. Oh, and the cutest daughter in wee Aurora :)
Opting to have their wedding on Florian’s families home and llama sanctuary, they did some incredible work to their garage to make it fit for their evening meal and party.
They decided to make the most of the shorter daylight hours, opting for a sweet first look overlooking Tyrol and the Alps. Just incredible. Then it was off down to Mayrhofen to get married at the Standesamt (their local registry office!) after which everyone drove back up to the sanctuary. Lead by Belinda’s Uncles decorated Ram truck with the newlyweds (and us!) inside, everyone continually honked their horns as is tradition on a wedding day in Tyrol. This wasn’t the only tradition we got to witness – scroll down for more of this ace Tyrol destination wedding :D

Venue: Zillertal Llamas
Newlyweds: Heyday // Houston Kiltmakers (yup, Kilts all the way from Paisley to Austria!)
Bridal Party: Eliza & Ethan // Houston Kiltmakers
Hair & MUA: Meister Weber (flower crown from Etsy), The Barber, Ramsau
Florist: Blumen Kröll
Cake: Janine Meran (super talented cousin, what a cake!)
The procession of cars were stopped by friends and neighbours who were waiting along the route, blocking the road back to the sanctuary. Belinda and Florian had to complete a task in order to get by – in this case, a wee cheeky shot of schnapps (not for Belinda of course!). In most cases, there can be up to 8 different blocks and tasks on the way back to a wedding reception :D
It is commonplace at Austrian weddings to play a few games – awesome fun for us to photograph! The newlyweds lead a game whereby their guests had to solve clues in order to work out the sex of their baby bump. We can’t wait to meet wee Josefa :)
Later they had to saw through a log – a representation of them working together in married life and their strength as a couple. Finally, a Mr & Mrs game lead by their bridal party. We may not have understood a word (I mean, it was in German) but it was ace :D
